IBWAA SELECTS JOHNSON, SHOWALTER IN MANAGER OF THE YEAR VOTE
 
Los Angeles – The Internet Baseball Writers Association of America (IBWAA) announced its 2012 Manager of Year awards Wednesday, electing Washington Nationals skipper Davey Johnson in the National League, and Buck Showalter, of the Baltimore Orioles, in the American League.
 
Election results are as follows:
 
AL Manager
 
1st Place:                  Buck Showalter, Baltimore Orioles

nd
Place:                 Bob Melvin, Oakland Athletics
3
rd Place:                 Joe Maddon, Tampa Bay Rays
 
NL Manager
 
1st Place:                  Davey Johnon, Washington Nationals
2nd Place:                Bruce Bochy, San Francisco Giants
3
rd Place:                  Dusty Baker, Cincinnati Reds
 
2012 IBWAA relief pitcher awards will be announced Friday.
 
The IBWAA was established July 4, 2009 by Howard Cole, editor of BaseballSavvy.com, to organize and promote the growing online baseball media, and to serve as a digital alternative to the BBWAA.
