New York City May Donate Old Yankee Stadium Historic Gate 2 Balconies to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum

Following the Proposal Which Saved the Historic Gate 2 Balconies, Citizen Groups Bring Mayor's Office and Hall of Fame Together to Discuss Potential Donation

Now Uncertain Whether Any of Historic Gate 2 Balconies Will Remain on Original Yankee Stadium Site

In response to multiple proposals and extensive advocacy by The Committee to Commemorate Old Yankee Stadium & HistoryOfTheYankees.com, Mayor Michael Bloomberg's Office and the National Baseball Hall of Fame are now in discussions over the City's possible donation of one or more historic Old Yankee Stadium balconies to the famed Cooperstown shrine.

As documented in the Daily News article below, these Gate 2 artifacts, dating from the 1920's, were reportedly intended for inclusion as prominent commemorative features in the new park being built on the historic site of Old Yankee Stadium - as the only artifacts from the pre-renovation Stadium. The Parks Department, however, did not include those plans in their recently approved final proposal for the park design - thus leading to the urgent proposals of both The Committee to Commemorate Old Yankee Stadium & www.HistoryOfTheYankees.com that they be donated to the Baseball Hall of Fame and/or another nationally prominent site where they will be properly displayed.
